Past papers on a whiteboard

The working belongs next to the question. Screenshots in a chat window are why a student cannot revise from their own lesson three weeks later.

Import the paper

Drop the PDF onto the board. Each page of the paper becomes a page you can write on, at full size, with the paper underneath the ink rather than as a picture pasted into a corner.

Work on the question

Write the method where the marks are. Use the highlighter for the words in the question that decide the method, which is the part most students skip. Hand over the pen and let them do the next part while you watch.

Keep it with the rest

Group the pages into a book: the paper, the topic, the term. A book exports as one PDF in order, so what the student revises from in April is the paper with their own working on it, not a blank copy they have already forgotten.

A note on copyright

Exam boards own their papers. Using one in a lesson you teach is ordinarily fine; republishing it is not. Keep exports to the student whose lesson it was.

Papers are most of the lesson for maths tutors, physics tutors and 11-plus tutors. If the paper loads but the board then freezes, that is usually the school network rather than the PDF.
